Story behind the bag: interview about the design process<\/h1>\n

Lou Gabissou is a farm in France<\/span><\/strong> that is run by father R\u00e9gis and daughter Tiphaine. They produce cereals from which they make flour and pasta. Lou Gabissou needed to refresh its identity<\/span><\/strong> and wanted more visibility<\/span><\/strong> on the supermarket shelves. They engaged communication agency <\/span><\/strong>Graphit\u00e9ine and together we designed new bags for their flour and pasta<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Who are the client and the graphic designer?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Designing a new bag<\/span><\/strong> is a real team effort<\/span><\/strong>. We work not only with the client<\/span><\/strong> but often also with a graphic designer<\/span><\/strong>. By combining everyone\u2019s individual knowledge and perspective<\/span><\/strong> we arrive at the desired result<\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The client, Lou Gabissou, had selected communications agency Graphit\u00e9ine. What did they find important in a bag?<\/span><\/h2>\n

Bags can be fully\u00a0custom-designed<\/span><\/strong>. In doing so, you give it the appearance that fits your brand and product<\/span><\/strong>. The choice of paper<\/span><\/strong> is very important in this. For example, a brown kraft paper has a completely different look & feel to a glossy white paper. You must also take into account the product you are going to pack<\/span><\/strong>. Some products, such as cookies, require a different inner and outer finish than for example flour, which is much finer.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the following video Tiphaine<\/span><\/strong> explains what, as a producer of flour and pasta, she found important <\/span><\/strong>in the composition of the bags. What tips would they like to pass on to others?<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are many options<\/span><\/strong> of paper types, printing, whether or not to have a personalised window, and so on…in order to arrive at your perfect bag. In order to guarantee very high quality<\/span><\/strong>, the technical specifications<\/span><\/strong> that apply to block bottom paper bags must be complied with. All this is covered in the process called “prepress<\/span><\/strong>“. You will find more information about this here<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n
